Born in Alexandria in 1989 where he is currently based, Hakeem graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Printmaking department, at Alexandria University in 2012. His work is inspired by his local environment and the streets surrounding him as he translates a variety of influences onto his canvas. Some ideas stem from fantasy others from reality with borrowed elements from myths and legends or even history through inherited culture or religious interpretations. Strands of political, social, economic, scientific and historical elements are clearly sewn through his artworks as he portrays personal or societal understandings and perspectives. He constantly searches for channels and avenues of expression that are appropriate, for both himself and current times. He believes that when it comes to honest art, ideas may be repeated but embodied and expressed in a unique and different fashion. He has participated in several group and six solo exhibitions such as The Biennale of the Sixth Artist Book, Bibliotheca Alexandrina – Egypt (2014), Arabic Revolutions Festival, Lyon – France (2014),Egyptian Short Film Festival, Torino – Italy (2015), A photo around the World, Palermo – Italy (2017), Al-Kasaby Fine Arts Institution, Jeddah – KSA (2015), Context Art Fair, New York – USA (2016), Contest Art Fair, Miami – USA (2016 & 2017), ), 1-54 African Contemporary Art Fair, Marrakesh, -Morocco 2020, AKKA Art Fair, Paris- France 2021 “Zero” Solo L’Atelier D’alexandrie, Alexandria – Egypt (2017), “Do we Exist” Solo Ubuntu Art Gallery , Cairo – Egypt (2020), “Middle of Nowhere, Centre of Everywhere, I LOVE YOU “” Solo Ubuntu Art Gallery , Cairo – Egypt (2020 and more He has holdings in private collections in the KSA, USA, France, Egypt and Australia.
