Born in a small English fishing village on the coast of Northumberland, I was exposed to raw nature from my earliest childhood in a golden age before the advent of computerized technology. Deeply impressed by the constantly moving elements of sea and sky in contrast to the stable, earthly elements of sand, rock, this juxtaposition has been a recurring theme throughout my work. As a child I visited Italy and Greece, then after graduating from Newcastle University set off on the nomadic life of an artist and mystic, ever searching for new horizons. The paintings I have made throughout this magic carpet ride each reflect the episodes I was experiencing, and they themselves tell the real story. Since moving to Egypt in 2006, this blessed land has become my primary influence, and after years of sifting through its rich cultural heritage, I ultimately discovered the nature - the sacred, cosmic laws of nature itself - buried under millennia of sand.... Understanding these laws lifts many of the veils so prominent in our contemporary world and allows me to experience a deeper reality closer to that which the ancient Egyptians upheld.
